Photocatalytic NOx Removal in Bismuth-Oxyhalide (BiOX, X = I, Cl) Cement-Based Materials Exposed to Outdoor Conditions

چکیده
Cement-based materials modified with 3D BiOX (X = I, Cl) microspheres at different percentages (1, 5 and 10% by weight of the cement binder) were prepared to investigate durability photocatalytic NOx removal under outdoor conditions. Weathering—corresponding a period 13 months outdoors—was studied in terms NO efficiency visible UVA light irradiation for BiOI BiOCl mortars, respectively. Following this period, samples protected from environment four years, selectivity nitrates assessed. mortar initially photocatalytically active; performance increased as content increased. There was good photocatalyst dispersion, compressive strength not significantly impacted. The mortars had nearly completely lost their activity after years casting, whereas containing maintained about 7% initial performance. results suggest that deactivation is due surface dirt accumulation oxidation on rather than carbonation. An internal self-deactivation mechanism affects matrix has also been postulated.

متن کاملElectronic structures and optical properties of BiOX (X = F, Cl, Br, I) via DFT calculations
Based on the density functional theory (DFT), the lattice constants and atomic positions of BiOX (X = F, Cl, Br, I) species have been optimized, and the electronic and optical properties of the relaxed species have been calculated, with Bi 5d states considered or not. Relaxation generally results in the shrinkage in a and the expansion of c. Relaxed BiOCl, BiOBr, and BiOI present indirect band ...
متن کاملSynthesis of the bismuth oxyhalide solid solutions with tunable band gap and photocatalytic activities.
Three series of BiOM(x)R(1-x) (M, R = Cl, Br, I) solid solutions were systematically synthesized through a low-temperature precipitation. These solid solutions were characterized by XRD, FESEM, TEM, EDS, UV-vis spectra, nitrogen sorption/desorption, and PL. The tunable band gaps of the as-prepared solid solutions were realized via only changing the molar ratio of two halide ions. Meanwhile, the...
